RIPPED OFF

I don't own a copyright to the title "Valley Boy" but I've been using it in various forms since 2003, first in a column for Citybeat for two years, and more recently in this blog. Yet for some reason, I got very pissed off when I learned that some rich old venture capitalist named Tom Perkins decided to steal my moniker for his memoir. I don't know this guy, other than he was on the board of Hewlett Packard. But he looks like a ruthless, humorless son of a bitch. And he clearly has no problem swiping his book title from this highly respected blog. And everyone knows that Valley girls and boys don't come from Silicon Valley. As an additional slap in the face, this guy's now sold his soul to Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., for which he's on the board of directors. I just hate when good things get co-opted for nefarious reasons. I don't know when the book's coming out, but I'm calling for an immediate boycott.

LONG TIME, NO WRITE

Hey, y'all. I have lots to write about but little time of late. The Valley Boy Clan has relocated out of the Valley Glen ghetto into a swankier zip code in Valley Village. Also been traveling a lot for a show I'm doing on the 40th anniversary of the Monterey Pop Festival. Amazing adventure so far... will offer more detail when time allows. In the meantime, please groove on the fab pic of moi and Mr. Pete Townshend in Austin, Texas. Talk soon.
